B.O.K. Ranch brings the benefits of horseback riding to many individuals each week. We offer services to riders with and without neurodiversity’s. Our riding and horsemanship program starts riders at age four and goes through adulthood. There is no maximum age, as long as the rider has no physical or medical contra-indications.
We offer a variety of classes to meet the varying needs of our riders. Lessons are customized to achieve each individual’s goals. Working with specially trained, instructors, we teach classes in riding skills, and our riders learn horsemanship and sportsmanship.
Horseback riding is enjoyable as well as purposeful. Lessons include creative games and sports activities that encourage a sense of well-being and accomplishment. In addition, students learn horse care, grooming, and equipment use through hands-on experience. This hands-on approach encourages responsibility, fosters the bond between horse and rider, and leads to a sense of empowerment. Most of our lessons are in small groups, and each rider has specific goals. Lessons are individually designed to help students achieve these goals. Our riding instructors work with a team of specially trained volunteers to support each rider.
Riders include people from all across the San Francisco Bay Area. We primarily serve riders from Santa Clara, San Mateo, San Francisco, Alameda, and Contra Costa counties.
Ongoing evaluations of each riding student’s progress are made by the instructor, the rider, and/or the rider’s parents or guardians.
